  • My sister Jill and I did a mixed medley with our parents in 2000: 2000 Long Course National Championships - Baltimore Mixed 160-199 200 LC Meter Medley Relay =============================================================================== 160-199 Worl: # 2:01.22 8/23/98 Ttex-Usa S WENCEL, D GUTHRIE, B WENCEL, S NEILSON-BELL 160-199 NATL: * 2:01.22 8/23/98 Ttex S WENCEL, D GUTHRIE, B WENCEL, S NEILSON-BELL Team Finals Points =============================================================================== 15 Montgomery Ancient Mariners 'B' 2:27.41 1) Roddin, Jeffrey H 31 2) Roethke, Jill 30 3) Roddin, Hugh J 58 4) Roddin, Ruth A 57 1:10.53 2:27.41 The Wolf family did a mixed medley relay at this same meet. They were in a different age group, but had the EXACT same time as us: 20 Plano Wetcats 'A' 2:27.41 1) Wolf, Tom 46 2) Wolf, Mary-Jo 38 3) Wolf, Joe 44 4) Wolf, Kim 20 1:13.47 2:27.41 And technically not a "blood" relay but last year my wife Julie and I and my parents did the mixed medley at both Greensboro and Omaha. Here are the Omaha results: 2012 Long Course National Championships - Omaha Mixed 200-239 200 Meter Medley Relay ================================================================================== USMS Record (N): 2:02.32 8/15/2005 SAN DIEGO SWIM MASTERS Pipes-Neilsen, Karlyn Krattli, Caroline Lautman, Scott Van Baalen, Vinus Pl Name Sex/Age Club Seed Time Final Time Points ================================================================================== 15 ANCM 'A' X200-239 ANCM 2:35.00 2:27.58 0.00 1) Roddin, Julie (F36) 2) Roddin, Jeffrey H (M43) 3) Roddin, Hugh J (M70) 4) Roddin, Ruth A (F69) 36.66(36.66) 1:10.45(33.79) 1:45.62(35.17) 2:27.58(41.96) Looking at this data, we got the exact same place and nearly the same finish time as the relay with Jill. More remarkable is the fact that my parents combined splits were only 0.25 slower in 2012 than the relay in 2000. I'm 0.25 slower today than I was last week so this is astounding! I guess that is a long winded way of saying, yes, to the question... :)
