I'm baaaaack! Well, at least I'm back with something different this time. :D I have been working on a faster backstroke open turn and would like any constructive criticisms/ suggestions you can offer. PLEASE do not suggest I do a flipturn, as I have mentioned too many times before that I can't do them, because of my inner ear problem (Meniere's).

Thank you very much!

The turn itself looks pretty solid. You do seem to be dragging one leg a little. Try to get your legs together and really spin them around fast. However, the major thing you need to work on is your underwater. Push off deeper and take at a minimum four dolphin kicks before surfacing.
OK, I worked on this and had Bruce shoot more video. One thing I discovered was that the deeper I tried to plant my hand on the wall, the more out of control I was with my legs. When I tried to get them to go straight up and over, I had a difficult time keeping my legs together and getting them to land on the wall properly for a straight push-off. The videos below were my best ones, after 21 attempts! For these, I went with a shallower hand plant and spinning my legs more around sideways, rather than overhead. I felt like they were faster and more in control.
I definitely have more work to do on these; especially with getting a stronger SDK off the wall. But, it's a start. And, it's a better than the turn I did in my 50 backstroke race at Auburn!
