Just started a new job and need to readjust my times/places for swim workouts. During this transition period, what can I do to help stay in swimming shape? Running doesn't seem to help at all. I can go to the gym, do yoga, pilates, etc. Advice appreciated.
I'd totally disagree that running wouldn't help. It's great for aerobic conditioning, helps keep weight down (if that's needed) and is the most flexible and easy way of getting exercise into a busy schedule. I wouldn't say that it will prepare you, on its own, for racing, but for general fitness it will do a lot to keep you ticking over.
