Lance not allowed to swim in masters competition

dfw.cbslocal.com/.../ Lance withdrew voluntarily, but what would USMS have done if he hadn't.

  • USMS has their own set of rules governing membership and competition. We have taken our own course seperate from FINA in the past. We allowed Armstrong to become a member but now we will not let him swim, a situation which does not make sense either legally or morally. We should follow FINA's rules when they are not in conflict with our rules. We should never follow FINA's rules or anyone else's rules where it would lead to an immoral or unjust result. FINA can keep Lance out of the Worlds and Pan Ams, but I think USMS should act ethically and fairly towards Armstrong who became a member and FINA did not object at the time. If FINA wants him out of USMS let them establish good cause at a hearing before USMS. The doping was in s different sport a long time ago.
