www.bendparksandrec.org/.../ Can anyone tell me about the All-Comers meet that is hosted here next Sunday? I found it on the COMA (Central Oregon Masters) website and am interested but can't find any info online. I'll call the facility tomorrow, but would be interested if anyone has done this meet before - are there distance (500/1000/1650) events?
  • I talked to the meet director and thought I'd send this along in case others are interested This is an informal (non-sanctioned) meet, just an opportunity to get up and race. No entry fee, no USMS registration required and hand-timed. Swimmers do the timing when not swimming and Coach Bob is your starter and stroke judge. You just show up and you enter on deck. We run a 50 100 and 200 of each stroke and 400 free or 400 IM. Pool opens at 9:00 and first race starts at about 9:30. I've added Bob as a cc, in case I've forgotten something.... but you are welcome to join us if you are in town!
  • Let us know how you do. An informal meet such as this one is where I received my first ribbon for swimming anything. My un-named swim club poo poo'd me for participating in the swim meet, but I felt good about doing it, and was excited that I earned a ribbon. It helped build up my confidence. I've participated in the swim meet each year since I began swimming.
  • I didn't go - it would be a 3 hr drive, not doing that if there's only a 400 (I like 1000/1650). I think I am headed to a meet mid April!
