It’s My Birthday and I’ll Swim if I Want To...

As part of the the USMS Fitness Committee's ongoing efforts to encourage new and exciting forms of fitness, we'd like to get a feel for what you do for fun in the pool. Today's topic: “It’s My Birthday and I’ll Swim if I Want to” Many swimmers do special things for a birthday swim such as swimming their age number of 50’s or 100’s. Some may be even more creative! What do you do?

  • My birthday falls in the week following our state meet, where I plan to do the 400 IM and 1650 as focus events. So after some recovery and since I won't have to worry about upcoming meets for a while after that I was briefly considering that 4300 IM for my 43rd. Sort of an odd distance which would require keeping track of 1075 of everything... I just don't think my fly is going to be ready by that point; so maybe 10 x 400 IM followed by a 300 IM.
