don't weight lift
try to encourage your betters not to swim

try to pace correctly
enjoy the smiling gods on the rare occasions they aim their upturned mouth corners in your direction
Jim was sublime on his last attempt, having personally witnessed it! I would also add to his list:
6. swim extremely consistently
7. pull tech jammer below knees
8. stay at Fort house and be fed by Fort
I will say that Jim's repeat efforts caused me to tag along to swim in an outdoor & long course meet -- neither of which I like. I swam the 100 evilstroke in long course for the first time ever and ended up #3. Shocking indeed.
