How dare you disparage the world's greatest event ... though, truth be told, I like it even more in SCM than LCM. :applaud: Second! It's truly the world's greatest event, covering almost every aspect of swimming. 'The Black Widow of swimming' is merciless, devouring any pretender who gets too close. My favourite part, except for the finish, is the first pullout of the breaststroke leg; each time having the feeling that 'this time I may just not make it to the surface'. As for SCM vs LCM, that's a tough one. LCM is 'true' swimming, with the Olympics and the World (and European for us) Masters Championships. The SC world is divided, weakening the position of each pool length. But swimming short course is fun; it feels fast and not as grueling. And I have only ever raced the LCM 400 IM outdoors, and I always get lost on the backstroke leg, weaving from rope to rope. I'm a weak backstroker, but even for me it's embarassing to negatively split a 400 IM. -I swim, therefore IM
