Critque my swim (again) - episode 3 "The Octopus" Quote | Reply Latest episode in "Andreas tries to become a fish". This episode is called "Episode 3 - The Octopus". Fire away with your input. please www.youtube.com/...amp;feature=youtu.be Unfortunately, the quality is pretty poor, sorry about that. I hope it is possible to provide useful comments anyway. What I notice myself is: 1. Crossing over the center-line with the right arm. Fix is probably focus, swim more with pull buoy and also become more flexible 2. Kick becomes wide at times, it seems to be related to the cross-over because it seems to be mostly my left leg that goes wide when I cross-over with the right arm. It is probably something the body does automatically to counter-balance. So I guess the fix is kick drills but also killing the cross-over. Finally, a stronger core should help? 3. I seem to be dropping my elbows but I am not sure how much I drop them. It is hard to see on the video. But I do not feel I have a very powerful pull where I grap a lot of water. Not sure what the fix is here? 4. Not a lot of glide and my arms are propelling like the blades on a wind turbine. I guess catch up drills as well as reaching more forward as my hand enters the water before I start the pull will be helpful. 5. Head being lifted too much out of the water to breath. I guess focusing on this and become stronger in the core could help? That might also be influecing my wide kick Am I right about these 5 observations and the fixes? What else do you see? I started swimming in March 2011 or so. Swim 10-12k per week incl. 2 times Masters Class. I also have a swim coach. Amazing one can be that bad after a year of lots of practice. 100m repeats @ 2:00 (leaving the wall at 2 min). Hard (not all out though) 100m about 1:35. Here is episode 1 and 2 from January 2012 and July 2011 respectively as a reference point: January 2012: MVI_5451.AVI - YouTube July 2011: Swim july 13 2011 - YouTube
