Breathing on the first stroke in distance free

In the finals of the 1500 at Worlds, I noticed that all of the swimmers were breathing on the first stroke coming out of their turns instead of taking a pull with the deeper arm and breathing on the second stroke. Any thoughts?

I love the overhead shots. Same here. Unlike the standardized camera angle from the bleachers, the overhead view dramatically changes the perspective of each race. You really get a sense of how fast they're actually moving. Hope they do lots of this during the broadcast this summer.
