  • Steve Wood, USA, 50-54. Yikes! I am seeded in the same heat as Steve in the 200 back at nats. FLASHBACK to like 1973, when I got mauled in the same event by Mel Nash at the Pittsburgh-area senior championships. Fortunately I have no problem getting taken to the cleaners by really excellent swimmers. Diann Uustal, USA, 65-69; Leslie Livingston, USA, 50-54; Like these! Flashback to this heat at last year's Albatross meet. I thought it was totally cool that Diann and Leslie both set world records in the same heat, little knowing at the time that both would be honored as swimmers of the year. Is this a great sport, or what? Congratulations to all!!!
