Congrats to James, Elaine and That Guy!!! I don't understand how James does this back-to-back-to-back-to-back event thing ... amazing. This is a bizarre timing error from Y Nats. Only one 50 year old woman has ever broken 25 (Traci, the NR holder). Maybe they should have checked their results more carefully. Event 501 Women 50-54 50 Yard Freestyle Time Trial ========================================================================= USMS: U 24.92 5/4/2008 Traci Granger Name Age Team Seed Finals Points ========================================================================= 1 Stolarski, Sheila 50 Westport Weston NT 23.61U Leslie, thank you for pointing that out. I will investigate. I was at the meet and I collected the results file from the meet director and uploaded it to the database. The meet had a lot of relays and at the end of the meet they hand-entered all of the leadoff splits into the computer. Because of the way the meet software works the most efficient way for them to do that was to create separate events, which they called "time trials" in the software (the software does not have a choice for "leadoff split"). I suspect that this was a relay leadoff split. If the relay team swam in a different order from what was printed on the card (or if they had a substitution for the first swimmer) and didn't write it onto the card, then the computer operator wouldn't have known that. Lesson for everyone: if you swim on a relay and there is a substitution on the team, or if you swim in a different order, PLEASE make sure that the timers cross out the name on the card and write in the correct swimmer's name. Legibly. Your meet director will be eternally grateful.
