We had a situation today that caused some confusion. Can a USA Swimming athlete workout with a USMS team and be covered by either/both insurance policies? There was some concern that the USA Swimming athlete would have to be in her own lane and not mix with USMS unless there was a USA Swimming coach on deck. Is this true?
To further complicate matters, a USA Swimming coach was swimming with our USMS team (as she always does) but obviously was not on deck. Is in-water the same as on deck?
Since I am a certified USA Swimming official with my background check and athlete protection course passed, do I qualify to satisfy any requirements?
Fortunately, one of our deck USMS coaches is also a USA Swimming coach so we think every conceivable base was covered.
