New Englander here with the chance to take a short-notice 3 - 4 day vacation at the end of the month - thinking of creating a quick training trip where I could get in a workout or two a day and enjoy a beer and a bite to eat in the evening, and basically do nothing else.
I'm hoping to find a warm place to go with a reasonably well-structured/coached masters program that allows for drop-ins. Soliciting recommendations on programs that are welcoming to guests with (preferably) outdoor facilities. South Florida is probably better for flight time, but I wouldn't rule out TX, AZ, even SoCal.
Appreciate any advice from the group.
We're about in the zone of perfect weather here in Arizona, have a much better & modern hotel / tourism setup than over-crowded FL, zero humidity and Paul Smith.
I'm seeing mixed signals: are you trying to entice him to visit, or scare him away? And in the comparison of AZ vs FL, isn't Paul Smith just a poor man's version of Rowdy Gaines? :bolt:
Any superlative post-workout watering holes in these locations? Liquid carb replacement is an integral part of my regimen.Start here -- http://www.fourpeaks.com/ -- but, really, when it comes to tourist infrastructure -- hotels, all kinds of dining, etc. -- the Valley of the Sun does it right. If you want a great burger to go with that brew under the stars, head up to North Scottsdale to Greasewood Flat (http://greasewoodflat.net/) and sit under the stars.
I imagine Florida has a Chili's or Applebee's or maybe some other tourist trap like Bubba Gump's...
