My 100's times are now approx 5 seconds slower than about 14 years ago, when I was relatively new to Masters. Is this "normal?" Has anyone experienced this and then made a comeback?
During this time frame, I stopped swimming off and on few a few years. But am now back to practicing regularly with a masters group. I'm hoping to get back to where I was. Is it just a given we will continue to get slower as we age? Or maybe my lack of good practicing has caused my less than great performance recently, and it can be recovered?
Of course it's not a given. There are lots of swimmers who are swimming the fastest they've ever swum who are in their 50s and 60s. Not to say this is "normal," but it is possible.
How old are you?
knelson- I am 45, female. When I was 30 I thought I was old.... hadn't swam since I was 16, but was closer to my times then than I am now comparing age 45 to age 30.
