Problems with Fastskin3?

Has anybody else heard about problems with the new Speedo Fastskin3 Women's suit? Apparently a Brazilian coach who is also a TV commentator (but based in Florida) is reporting on his blog that there's a defect in the women's suit bought before Feb 8th Just trying to get some factual information. ================ sportv.globo.com/...-fastskin3-da-speedo http:// babelfish.yahoo.com/...p;btnTrUrl=Translate ================ Trying to get ahold of Coach Pussieldi. Thanks! Brian
  • The suits are a complete bust. From what I hear virtually no college teams wore them for their taper meets.

There have also been some rumblings from the Australians about being unhappy with the new suits. No one will say too much because Speedo is a major sponsor of their national team, but the Sydney Morning Herald had an article on that during their Trials.
  • Story from the Sydney Morning Herald about dissatisfaction with the suits: www.smh.com.au/.../swimmers-follow-suit-to-reject-new-speedo-design-20120328-1vypx.html I'm not sure you can really trust the opinions of athletes who are represented by other manufacturers, but it does seem like the new Speedo suits haven't gotten many positive reviews.
  • OPPS! Too early without proper testing will cost them in the long run!

Having the suit all but disintegrate on one of America's premier Olympic hopefuls AND having it be more or less the focal topic of the post-swim interview is a major PR disaster for Speedo. Adrian was wearing a TOWEL on the podium! The Olympics are only 3 months away!! Not good. I get the feeling - and this is strictly conjecture on my part - but I get the feeling that Speedo's marketing & sales division drove the decisions surrounding this suit, rushing the suit onto market without due considerations for the technical details. This is how it smells to me. I'd be very interested to see the internal e-mails that must've have been flying around in the company's system. This is a very sad chapter for a great company, and I can only hope that they learn from their very expensive mistakes and make the changes necessary to put the swimmers and the sport first, instead of BS stock market phantoms. I think you're probably right. I sort of forget when the LZR was introduced, but my recollection is that it was not readily available before Trials in 2008. In fact I think Speedo had loaner suits available for those who couldn't get one before Trails (which was nearly everyone other than Speedo sponsored athletes). This time around it seems like Speedo was intent on cashing in well before Trials started and it seems like they may have rushed the product to market before it was ready.
