I sure hope something comes of this. All very valid points. Especially how you can get a FINA World Record with less "technical stuff" than for a simple annual Top Ten, or even just a meet results submission for the times database.
Also looking ahead to this year... James, you're planning on CMSC2012 in Kelowna, and I'm sure you want your swims there to count. Maybe take a measuring device with you? I'm sure the border agents won't have any problem with you bringing a laser into their country :bolt:
