Does anyone have experience with ACL rehab and swimming? I'm going in this Thursday, and am wondering about peoples' experience.

I used swimming/the pool to rehab my ACL repair. But a couple of questions: How long ago was your surgery? Is your knee still swollen or swelling after exercise/walking? Can you fully bend and straighten your leg yet? All these factors will determine what you can/should be doing in the pool.
But here's what I did:
1. NO WHIP KICK.
2. I began with pulling using pull bouy - the gentle movement helped "acclimitize" my knee to being moved by the water. Obviously, no flip turns or wall push offs with the bad leg.
3. pool walking in the shallow end or "lazy river" - stepping forward against water resistance helps build the quad muscles back up. Progress to walking against the flow in the lazy river.
4. pool running - helps straighten the leg. Focus on pushing down through your heel and extending your leg fully.
5. Full stoke front crawl - keep the kick gentle but focus rotating your core and using your whole leg to kick.
6. Next came flutter kick on my back. Then on my front. Pushed the intensity here, but obviously not to the point of knee pain.
7. Dolphin kick next - great for hamstring strengthening - far safer than hamstring extensions in the gym.
8. Ice your knee after you swim.
Good luck!
