Former Olympians Olympians Giving Back: Summer Sanders -- January 24, 2012 I didn't realize Summer Sanders was a former Olympian. Did they take away her swims? My sarcasm simply means once an Olympian, always an Olympian - there is no such thing as a Former Olympian. Although I guess if your name is Ben Johnson you are a Former Olympian...

To quote Gail Roper "We prefer not to be called "former" Olympians. A swimmer who makes the Olympic team is an Olympain for life, it's like a doctor's degree. A small thing....".

Out of respect for Gail, Summer and Olympian’s everywhere; I’ve re-titled the thread. Can we now get back to kudos to Summer? A great swimmer, person and humanitarian! Ande, pm me if you take exception to my renaming.
