I'm biased, but I consider this one of the greatest swims of all time:

Just look at those splits! Peter Vanderkaay finally took down Dolan's record eleven years later to the day, but only by 0.15 seconds.
The 1650 free is also very interesting. The top seven performances are by seven different individuals (Thompson, Jensen, Roualt, Vendt, Mellouli, Prinsloo and Dolan). Since Chris Thompson set the record in 2001 several swimmers have come close, but no one has quite been able to topple it. The next five guys are all within a second of Thompson's record.
