I was looking at Go The Distance and there are people who have swum 50-60 miles in the first 11 days of the year. I'm curious what they are doing.

That's right - you can make these settings on your flog for future use, but you can't yet view other's flogs if they are set to let you view them. When that capability is released, your settings will apply.
What's the big hold up? I pay my USMS fees! I want to flog-snoop!:bump:
Absolutely right. We give it 120%!
8,000 daily is a lot of yardage for someone only swimming the 50-100-200 free. Has he always trained like that?
I think so. I remember Gaines doing a 500 out of the blue in college and knocking out a 4:18. If you look at the USMS records, he did a 4:07 400 LCM and an 8:38 800 LCM as a 35-39.
Thats interesting, I thought the sprinter's scheme was more like 30% smacking oneself, 30% adjusting goggles, 30% resting, and another 30% trying to do math
You forgot the 30% talking about how intense 12.5's on 3 minutes can be.
forgot about 100% whining all the time too.:bolt:
Man the haters are out in force today. It's simple distance or sprinters all have their strengths and places in the pool.
Think of it this way: Sprinters are just Distance swimmers with personalities. We just work harder for less time so we can enjoy the social aspect...:D
I've been thinking about Rowdy's yardage and my conclusion is he can handle 8,000 yards better than the rest of us can. Have you ever been to a lap swim and seen that guy who thrashes his way down the pool and has to stop after every lap to rest? You know swimming like that he's never going to be able to swim for long. Similarly, I think Rowdy's stroke is so efficient that him swimming 8,000 per workout may well be like a typical masters swimmer swimming 5,000 or something. He's just that good.
