Considering building pool

After so many years of frustration of being held out of private gyms/pools, as an Independent Swim Coach with a following of clients, I am seriously considering installing my own pool; use year round! Issue: I live in Colorado, so have snow to deal with. I'd like to include an Atrium with Temp control, and weather protection. I have the room on a very flat surface, along with the beginning of an Atrium-like structure. I am considering both an in-ground lap pool, along with an Endless Pool. They run roughly $ 15k and $ 30k, respectively. The one thing that bothers me, is when I inquire into the ingound 2 lane lap pool, all the contractors come up with a mere 20" to 20 yd length pool!! This bounces me back to Endless Pools; though if I'm spending that kind of money, I'd like to 'do it right'! Does anyone have experience constructing/installing either of these? What kind of exprience did you have? Do you have any recomendations for me (ground isn't quit frozen yet; very soon). Flip turns are a must for proper competitive coaching. Many thanks! Lynne

  • ... in-ground lap pool, along with an Endless Pool ... You are a member of a very small group -- it is a rare person who wants either one of those things, let alone both! I don't understand the problem with the contractors. Tell them very specifically what you want, and you should get it! pwb built an excellent 2 lane, 25 meter lap pool in his back yard; some pictures are attached to this post. Somehow he got the contractors to do the right thing. Karlyn Pipes-Nielsen teaches year round using an Endless Pool. She's the only person I know who does (I need to get out more). Perhaps you can get in touch with pwb or kpn.
