UT has fired JT today, after 23 years of leading the Vols. The AD gave the reason as "gross misconduct."
www.swiminfo.com has the story.
JT has coached Melvin Stewart, Jeremy Linn, Tripp Schwenk and others to olympic medals in his yeas as a coach.
Jeremy said he hasn't heard anything lately. All the others are quiet and he said he likes it that way.
Today he wore a cool "vintage" UT swimming blue and orange parka. Much better than the all orange one.
The guy has an unusual personal life and he got fired for it. One should really use a private email account for such things.
That's sort of what I was thinking, too. Other than the drugs, what did he do that was illegal? Not exactly the kind of behavior you would want from a coach, but what he does in private is his business.

I don't know...if the statement below is accurate, would you send your child to swim for this coach? If not, then I can see how it would be the university's business.
He offered to pay for a cab for one Internet user, who claimed to be a 17-year-old boy, to visit his hotel room and offered marijuana and methamphetamine as a reward.
"I can (have sex) all night when I also enjoy Ms. Tina (slang for meth) which I have here," Trembley wrote. "I will pay for ur cab both ways and we can party and play most or all night ... ur call!"
Two things from that article:
Knoxville police said Friday they found no evidence of a case to prosecute.
Bosch pointed out the investigation found no proof Trembley engaged in such discussions with any of his swimmers or any other UT students.

He was a great swimmer and, obviously a charismatic and very successful coach. This is a sad story and there are no easy answers. People are more fragile than we like to think. I hope he has support and friends. Maybe he could get back in the water. It may sound simple-minded but I think good exercise can help in a number of ways. It helps me. A tough story.

Sadly, I agree. I hope the team can move past this and become the champions they once were.
