Dawn Heckman of Rose Bowl Aquatics threw down a 16:26.93 in the 1500 free yesterday. The old USMS National record was a 17:23.60 and the world record was a 17:01.56. She already had the world record in the 800, but assuming yesterday's swim counts she established a new mark of 8:46.37 in the 800, too. To put this into perspective for those of you who are used to SCY times, she averaged 1:05.80 per 100. According to the Swimming World converter this is 58.96 in yards. According to the FINA website, this swim ranks her 7th in the world in the event for 2011--we're talking seventh in the World--no "masters" qualifier. Now that's a dominating swim!
edit: Well, not so sure about the world rankings. The rankings seem to only show 23 total competitors, so it must only show a handful of competitions.
