I thought that too, but then Gemma Spofforth and Stephanie Proud are there, both British, both with no *. Maybe if they currently live outside the US they get a *?
maybe for the Grand Prix meets its different then. Or maybe the asterix is just random. Ever seen those people entered in the heat sheet in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS or with random symbols after their name/team name? there is a team in the Region VIII section whose abbreviation in the heat sheet/psyche sheet/results is always CSC$-OK. I am not sure what the $ means, except that maybe their team is "money".
