Too many factors at work to say for sure. I still think that the location/nature of summer nationals is the most important factor. I bet PR and Auburn would have been poorly attended with or without the suits. Hard to say with Omaha; Oly trials and the nice pool are draws, but Nebraska is Nebraska and possibly not everyone can get away in July.
I bet 2013 Mission Viejo nationals will have lots of people (for a summer nationals, anyway; they always have fewer than short course) and the TT times will be correspondingly faster.
