Just ordered myself a finis swimp3 player. Does anyone on here own one, and if so how do they rate them? I'm guessing the removal of earphones from the equasion makes for a better experience in the water. Cheers Andy

I love mine and use it everyday. I use Windows Media for my music and have no problems transfering songs. The one drawback is it only holds 1G. I'm in the water for 2 hours everyday and the battery will last 2-3 days between charges. I was used to the control buttons rather quickly. I wear earplugs and have awesome sound quality. The biggest drawback is that the music may not seem loud to you, but if you stop and try to talk to someone on deck, the music is LOUD!!! You have to turn the player way down or off.

I own one. I wasn't impressed with the sound quality, especially the difference between when your head is in the water vs outside the water. But I guess it's as good as it can get given the environment. So all in all, I think it's a good product, just like most products manufactured by Finis.
  • I have one and used it for a couple months before I started swimming with a team. It didn't hold a lot of music but it was enough for one workout anyway. Once you get bored of the songs on it, you get into a music management issue and Itunes doesn't really play well with non-Apple products. A good media manager might help but I don't have one. Making it play/pause/skip/volume control was a bit convoluted. Sound quality is pretty good but you still get underwater noises in the background. Once I started swimming with a team, it became obsolete. You just can't hear instructions, idle chat between sets, etc. with music blaring in your ears. Great toy for long solo swims. I'd definitely use mine more if I did more open water training. Ok for solo interval training but I like to focus more on what I'm doing when I'm swimming intervals. Not practical for team interval training.

I got mine from Amazon for $99.00. I wanted to get it through Swimoutlet, but they were sold out and would not have it back in stock for another 6-8 weeks. It was $99.00 from Swimoutlet as well.

Jeff thanks for sending out that link. FINIS does have a new improved version of the SwiMP3 2G. Now you are able to upload twice the amount of music on the player then the previous version. The new version still has the same hydrodynamic clips and provides a quality sound without wearing earphones. If you are interested in finding out more check it out here: www.finisinc.com/.../ Enjoy!
  • Hi Andy. I have a pair and love them. I gave up on trying to listen to podcasts because off too much head motion :shakeshead: but ... I love being able to listen to music. I agree that you do need to crank the volume up a bit, but it takes a second to pause it so that you can chat or listen to coaching directions. They are tough to hear when you are kicking with your head out of the water, but I don' have too much trouble when swimming. I use Windows Media Player to sync my playlists, and they hold charge pretty well. The company's customer service is excellent, and I would definitely recommend them. I swim a lot on my own, so it breaks up the monotony of a long practice. michaelleake.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html :2cents:
  • If you're worried about storage issues and compatibility with iTunes, FINIS has a newer version out now: www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../shop_detail.asp
