Hey all,
I learned how to swim from scratch during my senior year in high school with no intentions to compete - just wanted to learn. I ended up loving it, and I picked it up fairly well, so I swam summer league the following summer. I loved competing and getting better, despite my lack of experience. Now that I'm 18, I'm pretty devastated now that I did not start earlier, or get the chance to swim varsity for my school.
I love love loveeee breaststroke (: With less than a year of swimming and about 2 months of working on ***, I swam a :49 for the girl's 50m *** during that summer. I know that this is not the best time in the world, but for the amount of time that I'd been swimming, I'm really happy with myself. I found my sport kind of late you could say.
Now I'm a freshman in college and debating if I should join masters. I'm not sure how the program works. And I loved the camaraderie of swimming as well, and I'm not sure if many people my age swim masters and if I would feel out of place.
If any one has input, I would greatly appreciate it. (:
You will enjoy masters. We have a number of younger swimmers that swim with our team and they never seem out of place.
There are several teams in the Houston area so there should be something fairly close to you.
