Save our 50 Meter outdoor pool!

www.wenatcheeworld.com/.../ After the past few years of budget issues, mainly resulting from a poorly funded events center that the city took charge of, they have been talking seriously of closing our outdoor city pool for good! It looks like we may be safe for a while though...thanks to all those who helped lobby for the swimmers of the Wenatchee area! :applaud: Keep swimmers of all ages swimming!! :cheerleader:

Our newly constructed city operated swim center was on the chopping block due to significant budget problems within the city. The swim team we are on stepped up to take over operations and we've been running the facility for about 14 months now. As Patrick mentioned, swim lessons (Make A Splash and Swim America) have been a big part of our ability to maintain a break even financial status. This arrangement has worked out well for nearly everybody involved. The city is no longer losing 100's of thousands of dollars on pool operations each year, the residents still have access to the city pool that their tax dollars helped to pay for and our swim team has secured a place to swim for the foreseeable future.
