Save our 50 Meter outdoor pool!

www.wenatcheeworld.com/.../ After the past few years of budget issues, mainly resulting from a poorly funded events center that the city took charge of, they have been talking seriously of closing our outdoor city pool for good! It looks like we may be safe for a while though...thanks to all those who helped lobby for the swimmers of the Wenatchee area! :applaud: Keep swimmers of all ages swimming!! :cheerleader:

  • Tacoma's been facing a similar issue with Titlow Pool. For the last few years every summer may be the "last summer" for the pool. I don't see any way out of this until the economy improves, unfortunately. Western Washington is almost as 50 meter pool deprived as Eastern Washington. We've got Federal Way, Colman, Titlow and the pool in Port Orchard. At least Seattle seems to recognize the value of Colman since they've started on a major overhaul. It will mean the pool opens about a month late in 2012, which will suck, but at least it shows they still consider Colman a valuable asset to the community.
