Save our 50 Meter outdoor pool!

www.wenatcheeworld.com/.../ After the past few years of budget issues, mainly resulting from a poorly funded events center that the city took charge of, they have been talking seriously of closing our outdoor city pool for good! It looks like we may be safe for a while though...thanks to all those who helped lobby for the swimmers of the Wenatchee area! :applaud: Keep swimmers of all ages swimming!! :cheerleader:

  • James, There were some other threads on this topic. It looks like the club and groups are already thinking about public/private combinations where an entity that really understands how to operate a pool profitably (sadly most cities / governments do not) could take it over. As I've been around the country, the consistent theme I hear in terms of what can help drive a pool to break-even or profitably is learn-to-swim programs. As those programs have the double benefit of preventing drownings, it's a win-win. Learn-to-swim is not a silver bullet, but is a key component to think about.
