Your 50 free is 23.28 & you want to drop to 22.1 by March 2012.
You asked: "is there any exercises or key details i should pay attention to while i am swimming?"
you need to:
Perfect your swimming & sprint technique,
SWIM FAST IN PRACTICE,
KICK FAST IN PRACTICE,
GET STRONG,
Do all the above often and
Be patient, keep taking action, even if it seems you aren't making any progress.
focus on improving your 15, 25 & 50 speed
Get a coach
Train with a team.
Tell your coach what you want to accomplish.
"Should i purchase the tempo trainer?"
NO
You asked a similar question in: "Arm recovery/stroke question"
I believe in what I suggested for you, plus you got good suggestions from others. I might tweak my advice a bit and say, "If you're really only concerned about the 50, you don't need to do much or any long stuff."
Transformations take time, you might feel dissaticefied with where you are now, which makes you want to be better, but it does take time and you need to be patient, determined, and action oriented.
Consistent correct training action is how you'll drop from 23.2 to 22.1.
It's likely to take you a full season and many work outs.
Check out my old blog, read the workouts I did from
July 2007 to June 2008 when I made significant improvements in my 50 times. It happened because of how I trained.
scroll down the pages and
look at my workouts,
how many times a week I trained,
how far each practice was, and
the type of sets I did.
when you finish a page,
click to the next one
the end of LCM 2007 to SCM 2007 then to 2008 zones then to May 2008 then to June 2008
Use them to come up with daily, weekly and monthly training plans, workouts and sets for yourself.
But most important is what you do each day, what you do right now.
go from wishing to doing
There aren't short cuts. It takes what it takes.
Whatever you do and measure improves.
If you want to go 22.1 in the 50 you need to be able to sprint 25 yards to your feet in 10.5, 6 or 7.
Where are you now?
What are your times for
25 free (start to feet)
25 flutter kick with a board.
Start a blog, show your progress.
Build a Fortress of Speed & Strength will show you how Leslie Livingston improved her sprints and broke masters WRs
check out Jazz Hands Blog He's a sprinter.
If you do the right type of training, you're likely to improve faster.
Do Help my speed is horrible and Help my flutter kick is horrible.
Good luck,
Ande
