Well, I hadn't either, but I saw something on one of the pool schedules mentioning the pool would be closed for a "Skwim Event." I had to find out more: www.skwimusa.org
Looks like it would be a fun team water game for kids, especially those who might be a little intimidated by water polo. It looks a little like ultimate frisbee only played in the water.

We played gutter ball - the only rule was no closed fists above the water. That will toughen you up quick.

Yeh, seriously. They need to add rusty spikes onto the disc, that'll make it a little better.

I have done underwater hockey as well. Got kicked a lot!
My summer pool used to do the greased watermelon. That was until someone ended up with stitches in his head. I think that was the end of a great tradition.
