Hi, I've been been able to swim the length of 25 yards in 13 strokes consistently. For months I've been able to do it no problem, sometimes I could do it in 12. But now all of a sudden going 1 way, it's taking me 14 strokes, and going the other way I am doing it in 13. I'm paying attention to everything, the stroke, gliding, hand entry, body alignment,I'm kicking off the wall the same, and I just don't know what it is. I know it sounds dumb because it's just 1 stroke, but I plan on buying a tempo trainer to increase my speed, and to me technique is super important. I don't want to sacrifice speed for technique. I've been doing tri's for awhile so I've been using that total immersion technique. Any ideas as to what is going on, has this happened to anyone else? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The big question is: Did you speed drop as well, along with your stroke length?
Do not worry about monitoring your stroke count regarless of swim time. Do not TI in other words.
13 is no better than 14 if 13 gets you to the other end slower than 14.
