:canada:Fina awarded Masters Worlds 2014 to Montreal. wonder if it is the same pool where they had Canadian Masters Nationals recently. Heard it was a nice pool
Lucky for me, it's easier to qualify for Worlds than our Nationals. Instead of qualifying for just the 50m breaststroke, the times are slow enough to qualify for all three breaststroke events. :bliss:
So, where are Worlds in 2012 and 2013? :D
The Worlds cuts from 2010 do seem remarkably soft in comparison to USMS LCM NQTs. I wonder what they will be like in 2014. Softer cuts don't make placing well easier though. There were a lot of fast swimmers at Goteborg judging from the results. Worlds are every two years aren't they?
Do you know how long the qualification period is? Will times I went this year be good in 2014?
You don't have to worry about it, Greg. You'd be under the qualifying standards if you decided to swim with just one arm. The Worlds cuts are considerably slower than the USMS National cuts. But, as Anna Lea mentioned, really anyone can swim any event (as long as you seed yourself under the cut). It's just that you get an "NT" or something in the results if your time at Worlds end up being over the cut. I don't believe there's any more thorough vetting of seed times at Worlds than there is at USMS Nationals.
Can you still compete in three events if you don't qualify? Montreal is on our travel list, so if we don't get their before 2014, I would love to go to Worlds!
No, you have to qualify for all events at Worlds. And if you swim an event at Worlds in a final time slower than the qualifying time, your final time will not be published in the results.
I am so there! And if this uses your age as of Dec 31, I will be at the bottom of my age group...I think. Sweet!
It's strange that Worlds are going to be closer to me than Nats ever are....I can't wait - I hope to see a lot of you there!

(Maybe by then, I will qualify... :D ) Correction: I do qualify for my three events already; I was looking at the men's instead of the women's! (Hmmm, this just happened on that other thread...)
Montreal and Quebec City (and points in between) would be an awesome trip! :canada:
the cut times are more than generous for the 45, 50 and up groups

how true. my 200Im was not listed in 2004 b/c i went 1 sec over the time. Luckily, somebody saw my time and splits and told me so i could use it for USMS LC Nationals:)

very cool, bet it will be fun
btw if you put the "2014" first in the title, ie:
"2014 Masters Worlds Montreal"
then forum members can sort threads by year and it will come up
That's why many forum members here put the year FIRST in the titles of
threads about particular events
