Another Game: Guess the Attendance at Auburn

OK, Forumites, today's the last day to sign up for Nationals at Auburn. This isn't much of a game, but it's a forum tradition. So, how many swimmers will be signed up to swim at Auburn? Winner gets a round of :applaud: and a :wine: . Hey, if you find me at Nationals and introduce yourself as the winner, I'll even buy you a :chug: on Saturday, after the conclusion of the meet! :D Good luck! :cheerleader: I'll start it off with: 888
  • :lmao: This goes to Peter, Wookiee, and knelson for the funniest :hijack: I have ever seen on the forums. Thanks for the laughs, guys! :applaud: Hope we didn't scare anyone off. Instead of a flurry of last minute registrations, they probably got a bunch of last minute cancellations. Part of english class in the south is learning to insult your rival state/football team. Nothing Wookie(e) has said that I haven't heard before. Doubt I've said anything he hasn't heard before. Too bad Wookie(e) is too scared to show up in Auburn to make me eat my words. This had the makings of a decent gridge.

Probably going to be a low attended meet, since swimming in that area of the country would be considered bathing. James, The only downside to having the meet in Alabama, after 5 straight days of bathing, they won't get a bath again until next year. Most of the kind folk of alabama take a bath 3 times a year, Christmas, Easter and the day marking the passing of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Since this meet is five straight days, they won't take another one until the Daytona 500 in Feb. again in honor of number 3

Full disclosure -...and I hail from Tennessee. A black mark on the fine state of Tennessee for sure.

I have my vacation set around the 2 mile cable swim in lake placid this year. No offense to the fine folk of Alabama, but I have worked at Auburn in the middle of a southern summer. I think Auburn is a pretty campus in the fall. But, I would like to escape the heat and humdity for a week or so. As Pete said, I have heard the comments before and have heard worse too. Granted, I prefer to be insulted by a fellow southerner than anyone else(with the exception of the cowardly lion in charlotte)
  • Just got an email that there will be 688 swimmers. I think everyone overshot it but Elaine matched two 8's.

If I remember right, I remember reading in another thread that you weren't planning on going. If you are, I owe ya one. If not, I'll catch up with you at a future Nats. :D
  • I was just going to post that I was only off by 200! :afraid: I blame Wookiee and Kirk. All those nasty things they said about Alabama... ran everyone off and hurt my feelings
  • I blame Wookiee and Kirk. All those nasty things they said about Alabama... ran everyone off and hurt my feelings  Don't , Peter; it's OK. Think of it this way: 1. The warm-up lanes won't be quite as crowded. 2. The small locker rooms at the pool won't be quite as packed. :worms: 3. You will have a better chance to medal. (I'm at the bottom of the heap in my events, so count me out for one of those...) Two names missing from the roster: 1. Janet Evans (I was hoping...) 2. Ambrose (Rowdy) Gaines!!! :bitching: I was looking forward to a showdown against Bob Bugg; a rematch of 2010 at GA Tech. I was looking forward to :cheerleader: Bob on to beat Rowdy! Oh, and, by the way, Auburn is Rowdy's alma mater!

Who's buying me one of these :chug: the next time Nationals are in a place where you don't have to take two or three planes and a pickup truck down a dirt road to find the pool?
