I had a total reverse shoulder replacement three weeks ago at 68 years old. For folks that have had a reverse, how long was it before you returned to swimming? What strategies did you use as you prepared to get back to swimming? Were there specific physical therapy exercises that you found helpful? Did you water-walk before starting to swim again? Did you use fins, one- arm swimming, pull buoy or other techniques? Were you ultimately able to swim both freestyle and backstroke (I hate breast-stroke and from what I’ve heard butterfly is out of the question after a reverse). I don’t swim with a team or workout group here in New Mexico so I don’t have a good network to tap into for this sort of advice. Thanks so much for any tips you have!
