The current status (January 31st) for hotel rooms along the shuttle route....Comfort Inn 6 Flags: still has rooms available for April 24th-26th only. This will work for swimmers who will be arriving on Friday. Wyndham Garden Inn: hotel is completely sold out. Fairfield Inn: King bed rooms still available and if anyone did not get the USMS rate previously because the block had filled, they may call the hotel, and they will honor the USMS block rate. Drury Inn: hotel is considering expanding the block, but we have no confirmation at this time.
We encourage everyone to stay at any of the numerous hotels that can be located throughout the city. It is our hope that you not only come to swim, but to make 2015 Spring Nationals a destination event. The SeaWorld Park (west of town) and Fiesta Texas area (located in the north) both offer family fun and lots of shopping and restaurant options. “Fiesta” is a huge South Texas celebration event that includes activities for the whole family each day, mostly in downtown, where over 50 hotels can be found. Early in the morning during the week, the drive from downtown to the Aquatic Center is 30 minutes as you are going against traffic. San Antonio is easy to get around because of several freeway systems that loop around the city as well as take traffic north and south. Yes, like anywhere else, certain pinch points come into play during evening rush hour. Stay where you want to spend & enjoy your wonderful evenings.
I have 2 nights at the drury inn on the shuttle route I will cancel this week if anyone wants them send me a PM.
I decided to stay at a place where we will be for 4 nights without changing rooms. I tried to get the other 2 nights, but no luck.
The nights are for wed & thur.
Our shuttle hotels are sold out even though we were able to expand our room blocks to include 70-90 rooms at each hotel. We now have two hotels that are 1.5 miles away from the pool, as the crow flies. Actual driving distance is just under 3 miles. La Quinta Inn 210-447-8000 and Quality Inn 210-372-9900 each has 20 rooms available as of March 24th.
