There will be no qualifying times for the 2013 Pan American Masters meet.
The only Masters meet that I know of that has qualifying times for all events is the World Masters Championships, which is held every two years.
Our Nationals have qualifying times, but only if you want to swim more than three events. Anyone can swim in three events without meeting any qualifying times.

Does this mean it will be a zoo? Any guesses on how many swimmers will be there? What is the pool complex like? Can it handle a crowd?

All I know is it's an outdoor pool... in Florida... and it will be hot and humid. And, because of that (and my medical issues with heat and humidity), I won't be able to attend. :badday:
Now, I just have to hope Mission Viejo doesn't have a heat wave during Summer Nationals! :agree:
Regarding your question about crowds, YES, it will be a zoo!

No, it won't be a "zoo." For one thing, it's going to be an eight-day pool meet, so there will be no more than three events each day. The ninth day of competition will be the open water swim (about a 15-minute drive from the pool).
The pool complex routinely hosts age group meets of up to 1,200 swimmers. There is a large field adjacent to the pool, which will become a "tent city" like there was at the Mesa nationals.
You can see an aerial photograph of part of the pool complex at the top of the Pan American 2013 web site.

Eight days? :afraid:Hotel room $ x 8, hot and humid weather x 8; count me out. :badday: I initially wanted to go (very much!) until I heard it would be outdoors, in the heat and humidity. Now, the thought of 8 days of expenses AND the weather counts me out. I'll save my $ for Mission Viejo and Montreal, instead...

Montreal will be about the same in terms of the amount of days for the meet. You don't have to be there for all 8 days either. Even if it means only swimming one or two of your "favorite" events, and then swimming a couple of other 2nd choice type events. A good 2 or 3 days, and you can get a full schedule of racing in. Since it'll have 300 heats (not really) per event you'll have plenty of rest time between races.

Mission Viejo and Montreal will both be outdoors, and in the month of August...

Ahhh, but you miss the point, my friend. :agree: (Of course, I didn't make my point exactly clear about Montreal now, did ? :D ) Montreal and Quebec City are on my bucket list; I have been wanting to travel there, even before I knew about Worlds. We plan on spending two weeks up there, traveling around after Worlds.
Florida, in summertime, doesn't rock my boat. The rest time between races is precisely why it will be a BAD situation for me; too much waiting around in the heat. In April, I raced in 4 individual events and 2 relays in a very short time; I'm getting used to that. And, I prefer it. It's the waiting in the heat that killed me in Mesa, at Nationals! So, I want to avoid that scenario again. In Montreal, the average temps. are definitely much cooler...

Mission Viejo and Montreal are also cooler and less humid than Florida! :agree: Besides, I am from Long Beach; I'll be going back to see family and friends. And, as I said to James, Montreal and Quebec City have been on my travel bucket list. :canada:
Hey Elaine, maybe you ought to step back and read your posts. Yeah, I know you're talking about your personal reasons for not wanting to attend, but do you really need about five posts discussing how horrible a meet Pan Ams is going to be? How about a little respect for the meet organizers who are working hard to make this a successful meet!
OK, cool; I hear ya. But, as you say, they were personal reasons and I was just explaining to James and That Guy why their suggestions wouldn't work for me. ;)
I never said the Pan Ams meet would be "horrible" for anybody else; most people function perfectly fine in those weather conditions. I know it's going to be a great meet and I am sure it will be a successful one. I will be bummed not to be there; especially since many of my teammates are going. :bouncing:
For those who choose to go, I am sure it will be a great opportunity and a memorable event; especially getting to meet so many people from other countries.
