What's going on with the Gold Medal Sponsorship for Spring Nationals? Last spring it was $75. This year it is $175. I don't understand why it would go up so much. I am having a hard time imagining what could be worth that much.
Meanwhile, the question, as Fort posed it, remains: Are they going to search our bags? :worms:I suggest you email one of the co-meet director’s. They should be able to provide answers to your questions. Their contact information can be found in the Nasional’s section of the web site.

Rob, I think the reason people are still asking here is because Hill started a thread about the cost of the sponsorship and completely ignored the bulk of the questions in the thread (the outside food/drink). It's really not that outrageous to assume Hill would come back to answer that question, is it?
Also, if I had realized that this question would start such a hullabaloo, I wouldn't have asked in the first place. It's also interesting to note that at least some folks on Championship didn't know about the clause in the meet info...
I don’t disagree with the reasons for any of the follow-up questions.
However, you may not have noticed Hill’s post count (7). Hill is not a frequent poster/visitor on the forum. I’m sure his post today was in response to a direct call or email.
And to be honest, there is a good chance Hill does not know the answer to the question. I assume the venue has the right to search the bags of anyone entering the building. If they choose to do so is not up to Don or Hill.
As an entrepreneur, I'm smelling a great market opportunity here. Maybe I need to do a little market research, stuff my rental car with desired items, hire a few local kids from the HS cross-country teams and agree to provide food at the door to the facility on demand. Yes, swimmers would have to walk outside the facility, but I guess the facility kind of wants to treat swimmers who are focused on their health and their dietary needs like smokers -- don't you dare bring in those homemade, gluten free, bran power-muffins! Outside with thee!

No, there should be clarification well in advance of the meet. We are not watching a sporting event or attending a convention. We are actual athletes. I think it would be per se unreasonable to not permit us to bring in personalized food/race nutrition. If I had to subsist on the GMS food from Auburn, I would've passed out from starvation or malnutrition.
I will likely fork over the $$$ for convenience and lunch. But I still plan to bring some of my "race food."
I'll eat breakfast 2-3 hr before my first event, often at the hotel as they seem to generally have complimentary breakfasts. At the meet I subsist on Heed and Lara bars until I finish my events.I may go to the GMS area to snack a little on fruit and visit with friends. After my last event,or between events if there is a long break I'll get a big meal at the GMS area(unless it was Auburn where they were down to crumbs by then). I thought of GMS as a fun convenience and if the food was a little overpriced, well the $ went to the local club.
Here the $ doesn't go to the local club and $175 for convenience only works if they throw in a personal valet(Jeeves,I'm conserving my energy for the 200,please be so kind as to carry me to the block.)
