2010 Nationals SCY GT Housing Question

I have a reservation at the GT dorms for this meet. I sent an emails to both the meet website and the housing site several weeks ago - with no reply yet. I inquired about two items: a. the meal plan mentioned in SCY NATs announcement in the January US Swimmer magazine. Does anyone know if campus meal system will be available to swimmers staying in dorm rooms? b. a request for a ground floor room (hopefully close to the aquatic center) because of a bum knee. I'm sure both groups are very busy, yet a brief reply would be a nice courtesy (yes, no, dunno know yet, fugh get bout it, go fish). Sure would appreciate an answer from the meet organizing committee. ps: stayed in the dorms for SCY NATs in Hawaii and had a great time. Food wasn't too bad either.
  • Hey Philipp, We have a few that committed to the dorms as well and haven't heard anything to date other than confirmation. Got a hunch they're waiting for withdrawal's after folks made the decision not to attend before they get into the task of assigning rooms and roommates so as to not spin the wheels for naught. Just my thoughts.
  • Hi Jim, Great to hear from the best mustache in swimming! This morning, I got two emails from Ed Saltzman - welcome to the meet and would you like to be a sponsor. But no PM or anything from the organizing committee in regards to my questions. I hope you are right about their decision making process - it kind of sounds like yield revenue management process or just in time event seeding. How many manatees are in the dorms? Are you thinking panty raid (uh, maybe a bad idea). See you in the water, Philipp
  • There is no meet committee - just me. All of your rooms have been assigned. Not as many of you as we were led to believe took advantage of the dorm - lessons learned. Philipp - you concerns about your bum leg were heard - you are in a ground floor room. The dinning hall in the Woodruff Dorms accepts cash so there will not be a need for a meal pass/plan. Not enough people opted for the dorms to make a meal plan feasible. I hope to get out a newsletter to everyone tomorrow with information about operating hours for the Dinning hall and the Student Center food court. You can also hop on the Trolley and be at Technology Square in 3 minutes for a wide selection of restaurants, etc. Ed Saltzman Meet Director Meet Committee

I know the other forum dwellers also appreciate your time and energy that it takes to reply. I can't believe that other masters swimmers didn't take advantage of the dorms. It was a lot of fun in Hawaii and I met many other masters swimmers in the cafeteria. I'm really sorry that it didn't work out as was expected - and for the administrative hassle. Thanks for the tip about the trolley - I'm already planning to use it. And many thanks in advance for your hard work. I know the pay is great and the benefit package is amazing (free dental work! - and hair cuts!). See you soon, Philipp
