2011 Spring Nationals - Mesa, AZ

OK, it may be over a year away but why not start a thread on 2011 Short Course (Spring) Nationals? This meet will be held at the newly-renovated Kino Aquatics Center in Mesa, which is just east of Phoenix. So go ahead and pipe in, I'm sure we will get some good conversation flowing.

  • Registration for the open water event that will be held on Saturday by DCB Adventures is now open: www.dcbadventures.com Event Description This first race of the series starts us off at Saguaro Lake. Get ready to set a great time to work from for the entire series! The quick details: 1000m loop course 2000m swim will run first and complete prior to the start of the 4000m swim We have stairs for the swim exit! 1000, 2000 or 4000 meter open water swim distances OR combine the 1000 and 4000 to compete in this year's 5K distance (times will be added together) Registration Online Registration Closes Thursday April 28th at 11:59pm $40.00 - Regulary Entry online until April 23rd at 11:59pm $45.00 - Late Entry online until April 28th at 11:59pm (close of online registration) $50.00 - Race Day Registration Course Description The venue is located at Key Hole Recreation area at the Saguaro Lake Marina. You will be shuttled to the venue from Water Users Parking lot, just west of the Stewart Mountain Dam road. There is NO PARKING at the venue, so please plan accordingly. Shuttles will be running all event to get you to and from your vehicle. The access to the water is a brand new dock at the far east end of the Key Hole. The course for this event will be a 1000m rectangular course. The counter-clockwise rectangular course will be marked with large tetrahedron shaped buoy’s and both the Start and Finish will be in water. the 4000m swim will swim 4 laps, 2000m, 2 laps. Average water temperature is right around the mid 70's. We built a staircase for the exit, so no climbing over rocks to get out of the lake! Divisions & Awards There are four Divisions for the 2011 Arizona Open Water Swim Series: 1000m wetsuit and non-wetsuit 2000m wetsuit and non-wetsuit 4000m wetsuit and non-wetsuit 5000m Calculated wetsuit and non-wetsuit Each event, we will give every finisher a commemorative award. Swimmers will collect series points where first place receives 10 points, second 9 points and so on... At the end of the season at Tempe Town Lake, Overall Series Awards will be given... Sorry, the skateboards are not going to be the overall awards again, We have another cool item we hope you will like! Swimmers need to have competed in at least 3 events to be eligible. Schedule of Events 7:00am Late Registration and check-in at the Venue 8:15am Open Water Swim Clinic - Swimotion 8:25am All 1000m swimmers to the water 8:30am 1000 meter start - Wetsuit Division 8:35am 1000 meter start - Non-wetsuit Division 9:00am 2000 meter start - Wetsuit Division 9:05am 2000 meter start - Non-wetsuit Division 10:00am 4000 meter start - Wetsuit Division 10:05am 4000 meter start - Non-Wetsuit Division Results will be posted at the event as well as on the website Body marking will be available all morning. For timing purposes it is very important to have the back of your hand numbered.
