OK, it may be over a year away but why not start a thread on 2011 Short Course (Spring) Nationals? This meet will be held at the newly-renovated Kino Aquatics Center in Mesa, which is just east of Phoenix. So go ahead and pipe in, I'm sure we will get some good conversation flowing.
There is a lot of shade in the form of sunshades on the west and north sides of the pool. That should offer some protection of your delicate fur :)
It is a VERY nice pool that underwent major upgrades two years ago. The blocks are new, the pool is deep, and the water is fast. Should be a good venue for Nationals.
Sounds like a great venue but I will pass. Backstrokers and outdoors don't go well together.
