Haven't seen much about Atlanta next May. Seems like a National LMSC challenge would get a few swimmers motivated. Seems there ought to be a way to break up teams so that they are roughly comparable. What about a heavyweight division (100+ swimmers), light heavyweight division (75-100) middleweight (50-75) and lightweight (under 50)?
Yep, that was back in the days of the Metro Conference and Independant schools. It was always between us FSU and Miami (mostly due to their great divers). I think in 91' I won the 500 and 1650, in 90' I won the 500 but got beat by Keith Frostad (Miami) in the mile. I also swam the 200 Free and 800 Free Relay. We had some great battles with FSU in that relay.
C of C was always our first meet of the season back then. You probably know Kerri Hvizdak then...I swam with her at Dynamo. I also knew Christy Heiser. I always loved going to Charleston, still do.
That was a fast meet- I know it took a lot to win an event there, so winning 2 events is an accomplishment for sure. I managed to make 91' finals in the 100 and 200 Free but went a little slower in the evening in both. Yes, I know Kerri- small world. Christy Heiser also sounds familiar but am not putting a face to the name. Our coach at C of C always wore a waxed handlebar mustache- he said he'd shave a side should any of his swimmers qualify for NCAAs. Unfortunately when I left he still had a full stache because of that friggin' window.
