Heat Rash at SCY Nationals in Clovis

I got Heat Rash during SCY Nationals in Clovis. Heat Rash is a skin irritation caused by excessive sweating during hot weather. It is very itchy. Someone else told me that also got heat rash. Did anyone else have this problem?

Did anyone else have this problem? No, but some folks are more susceptible to it than others. The length of time before it occurs is dependent on the length of exposure to the heat and your body chemistry. I've gotten it in Hawaii (once only) but it took about 10 days of exposure. Annoying as all get out, too.
  • Do you think your skin reacted at all to the salt pools Barry? Not sure why I kept hearing and/or reading about "salt" ? Unless you're referring to the accumulation of sweat/bodily stuff in the water? Seemed the warm-up/warm-down pool was getting a little murky for a couple of stretches but for the most part handled the crowd pretty well.

Do you think your skin reacted at all to the salt pools Barry? Our weather is pretty similar to Clovis (I know San Mateo can get hot, not as hot as WC, but still hot), so the heat shouldn't have been too abnormal... I have really sensitive skin and I didn't have any problems. :2cents: I grew up around the corner from Barry in Palo Alto. I guarantee the temperatures we had in Fresno last week were completely foreign to him. People on the peninsula think 80 degrees is a life-threatening heat wave.
  • I think they use a salt chlorinator in the Clovis pools. This results in lower Chlorine levels, but high salt levels--it's still fresh water. Maybe the salt plugged my sweat ducts.
