Cali swine flu emergency

abcnews.go.com/.../story Gee, I'm glad I came to San Diego this week and am heading up to San Fran tomorrow. I guess I'll triple test my immunity with a repeat trip to Clovis next week. Somehow I think popping Airborne might not be enough for this one.:badday: Will there be freebies of Tamiflu and Relenza in the Nationals goodie bags?

I'm bringing along several bottles of resveratrol concentrate. If this doesn't combat the flu, at least, it will greatly reduce my interest in the problem.
  • Patrick, This seems like a bunch of hype to me. None of the antivirals work that well and if you are going to die, you might as well go out with a blazing 400 IM just touching out Roque Santos, reminiscent of Jordan's flu game miracle, beating my (once) beloved Utah Jazz in game 5 of the 1997 NBA finals.:)
  • Cut & paste from Ande's thread. Don't know how to delete, so just moved it here. Clovis High School may close before Nationals and usually you can't use a pool for any reason, that a school district has closed. Any thoughts? Is California reacting as aggressively as Texas? Heard any word about canceling Nationals? Richard I just read this when checking out the North Texas LSC website, on the homepage announcements: » BB Meet on 2-3 May at LAC has been canceled published Wed, 29 Apr 2009 16:45:00 CDT The LAC BB Invitational scheduled for May 2-3 has been canceled. The UIL (Texas state public school) has ordered that all school-owned athletic facilities are to be closed to prevent spread of swine flu. Information about refunds will be available from LAC at a later date. Huh? Just responding to B-mania's post. Has nothing to do with Ande's tips, which I really like.
  • From Dowain Wright, Meet Director and physician. Also cross posted: At this time, there is no indication that the USMS National Short Course Championships will be adversely affected by the Swine Flu outbreak. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep everyone informed. It appears that all transmission of the virus in the US is the result of close and prolonged contact with an infected individual. Community wide spread by casual contact has not occurred. However, we request that any swimmer having a upper respiratory illness stay at home. Sincerely, Dowain Wright, MD, PhD Meet Director, UMSM SC Nationals -michael

I think it's Arnold's way to distract the public from California's financial diseases.

There is no hint of any Clovis schools or facilities closing. Please read the thread posted by the guy who is in Fresno: Swine Flu impact on Nationals - U.S. Masters Swimming Discussion Forums

Thanks Michelle. I saw all those closings as well and Ande is the only one I've written to, so I put it on his thread. Didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers. I'm obviously a novice on this forum with only a few posts over several years. Richard
