Will Clovis Nationals be a USA Swimming observed meet?

If so, what do I need to do before/after my swims to get my times recorded in the USA SWIMS database (I am now registered with USA Swimming)?
  • "In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics." Sorry can't answer your original question...wondering, however, why you care?
  • Last year in Austin the process was to go to the clerk of course's table and add your name to a list. I suppose the officials are supposed to make sure anyone on this list is swimming according to USA-S rules, but really are the rules any different other than fly?
  • ... Sorry can't answer your original question...wondering, however, why you care? My USMS Nationals Goal is to make the 400 IM cut for the Santa Clara Grand Prix (4:06.79 SCY) and then go swim that at the meet. Last year in Austin the process was to go to the clerk of course's table and add your name to a list ... Cool. Thanks. I'll check it out.
  • Good luck. I don't have any desire to swim against the young ones--they make me cry and feel old.:)
  • Kurt, Check the ego at the door, these kids are FAST. :applaud: But I would think that a much better goal than trying to beat the 'kids' is to show them that 'old folks' can go fast too. Both times I've swam with the 'kiddies', I've gotten beaten by 14 year olds but I've also had several talks with the younger crowd and described what Masters swimming is. I've also had similar discussions with the parents and have even gotten several of them to start swimming themselves.
  • No ego here...I know they are fast and am not especially excited about getting my butt kicked by a 14 year-old, nor having them call me fat, thus damaging my already fragile self-esteem; and since the age group meets are 3 times longer than masters meets, I am not too keen on heat stroke (which old people like me are much more susceptible to getting).
  • I swam at our youth GP, since it was hosted by us in Feb 2009. Not alot of kids like to swim the the 400IM, or they don't have too many chances to improve their times. I was in the final heat against kids born in 1993-1997 (me 1974). I talked to the 1997 kids coach during warm ups. I wound up telling his coach I was going to do everything I could to beat his 12yr old swimmer. we laughed about it. but then all the under 15 swimmers from that team made a big deal about it. they thought it was cool that an older guy was racing against them. they too wanted to do everything they could to beat me. I hit the wall nearly 10 secs over my Nov 2008 time, but beat the '97 kid by 3 secs
