Cancer Survivor's Forum at Nationals

A group of us have organized a forum at Nationals. It will take place on Friday May 2 at the end of competition at The Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. We will be starting at 5:30 PM. Janel Jorgensen, Executive Director of Swim Across America and 1988 will be our speaker, we will also have some time to get to know each other and exchange ideas and knowledge. The main purpose it to network with other cancer survivors that are masters swimmers for mutual support and to help others that are facing cancer. Everyone is welcome.

Describe or define "cancer survivor." ther are levels. Is having a cancerous mole removed in your twenties the same as having both *** removed in our thirties or having a larger protion of your small intestine removed. Or maybe living with something like multiple myeloma. Still having cancer but living past the usual 5 to six years.

define a cancer survivor -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is what Wikapedia says: "Cancer survivors are those individuals with cancer of any type, current or past, who are still living. The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) pioneered the definition of survivor as from the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life, a person diagnosed with cancer is a survivor. This expansive definition of "survivor" includes people who are dying from untreatable cancer. NCCS later expanded the definition of survivor even further to include family, friends and caregivers who are affected by the diagnosis in any way." I don't think that the degree matters. If someone is interested and will find the forum helpful they are more than welcome. I was motivated to do this because the most useful information I got when I was recovering was from fellow survivors that swim masters.
