Is it allowed to use converted times for entering long course nationals? Long course meets are few and far between but I have plenty of short course times that when converted are well below the qualifying times for long course nationals. I would like to be able to swim six events so I actually need times in at least three. As another option how long is it before times expire? Can I use times from 2006 worlds for 2008 nationals?
Thanks

Absolutely you can use conversions. Times swum within the last two year time period.
Wow, seems that LCM NQTs are pretty lax compared to SCYs. I'm right at NQTs for SCY in several events but when I convert my times to LCM, I'm under by about a 1.5sec/50.
Is LCM just not as well attended as SCY?

LCM Nat's can have about half to two thirds as many as SCY Nat's.
I was also checking that out. I qualify for 0 SCNAT events but 2 LCNAT events.
How does this work, it says you can 'enter up to 3 without qualifying and up to 6 if you qualify'. Does that mean you have to qualify in all 6 or can you register for 3 that you have QTs for and 3 that you do not?

The up to three free events applies whether you have NQT's or not: you can get your three events without having the NQT, and then the ones you have NQT's in on top of that. In your case, you could swim up to the 2 events you have NQT's in, plus up to 3 more events without NQT's.
However, if you swim the 800 or 1500, you can be required to have the particular NQT (104.5.3C(2)). You also cannot enter in more than six events total, or more than three per day.
(2) Event limit—When qualifying times are in effect, competitors may enter and swim in a maximum of three individual events without meeting the established qualifying standards. The Championship Committee may limit either the 800-meter or the 1500-meter freestyle to only those who meet the national qualifying time for that event. Competitors may enter up to three additional events (or two if the maximum event limit is five) in which they have in the past two years achieved a time equal to or better than the qualifying time for those events.

I assume converted times would be acceptable or do they have to be swum in the same course as the meet? I swam the 1650 today and my time of 20:31.73 converted to LCM works out to 21:03.75, just under the QT of 21:04.29 for my age. Or is the whole thing pretty laid back and nobody's really going to care? Anyway that gets me up to 3.
There's nothing official per se, but multiple threads have noted that converted times are acceptable (1, 2, 3, and I'm too lazy to find the other dozen or so other similar questions). Of course, you can also swim 3 more events without NQT's in addition to those you have the cuts, so long as you don't enter in more than 6 events or 3 per day.
