The first time I swam at Nationals, I didn't know you needed your own counter. The heats before mine all had counters, so I naturally thought that there would be a counter for me too. Not so!!! And somehow the swimmers on either side of me did not seem to have counters either.
Well, you guessed it, I miscounted in my 500 and swam an extra 50. I always have a counter now!!! :)
Thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to work on my social skills and see if I can convince someone to count for me. I don't have especially splashy flip turns, so maybe that will be a good selling point!;)
Kari,
Hey, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only insane one who signed up for both the 1000 and 1650! We'll see how the heats work out; I certainly do not mind counting for you. I've been in touch with a few other distance swimmers, and everyone seems willing to count for one another. I heard that they swim three heats at the same time. True? That might make it a bit more difficult to hook up with someone who's not swimming at the same time as you, so thanks for giving me another name to look for. What club do you swim for? Will you have a club cap on? I swim for Sawtooth Masters, and our swim caps are yellow with navy writing. I know that may be like finding a needle in a haystack, but hopefully it will help!
